Enjoy the beauty of Aagtekerke

Aagtekerke is a quiet village with about 1500 inhabitants, located between meadows and plowed fields in the shadow of Domburg and Oostkapelle. The center of Aagtekerke is formed by the village church surrounded by the Dorpsplein. This village is named after Saint Agatha, a martyr from the Roman age. Today there is no trace of the Roman influence. Although, a woman can be seen on the coat of arms of Aagtekerke, this golden bust is probably Saint Agatha.

The only hexagonal wooden flour mill in Zeeland is located on the Molenweg. The mill was built in 1801, but has no official name. In the past, this mill was mainly known as 'molen van Kwekkeboom', after the last professional miller. The village is surrounded by nature reserve De Manteling. Here you can take a lovely walk in the woods and relax.

At the Molenwegje is a wooden hexagonal ground sailer of the Zeeland type on a mill mountain. This flour mill from 1801 is one of only eight hexagonal mills in the Netherlands and the only one in Zeeland. The mill rests on six dice, on which six 2.40 meter high fields have been placed.
